Both passionate orchid hunters, they had good reason for their timing. Ian’s research revealed that the southwest of Western Australia was home to around 400 species of orchids, many of which would be in bloom just as they planned to walk.

The Board of the Bibbulmun Track Foundation announces the departure of long term and much-loved Executive Director, Linda Daniels on the 21st of July 2025.

Kathleen Broderick — consultant, and current Chair and Director of the Bibbulmun Track Foundation (BTF) in Western Australia — has joined the World Trails Network International Board.

Three key walking spots along the South Coast are now safer and more stable thanks to a big autumn effort by a team of Support Volunteers. Across three separate six-day campaigns, 20 volunteers rolled up their sleeves to install nearly five tonnes of track stabilisation materials at Boat Harbour, Parry Beach, and Rame Head.

Volunteers visited Sandpatch last week to install some weather-proofing “fixes” to make the shelter more watertight. Eave panels have been fitted around the shelter and a jarrah bead  installed to collect condensation, while a future upgrade will fill in the window.
