Welcoming our new CEO, Su-Mita Hill

Su-Mita Hill, CEO
The Bibbulmun Track Foundation is delighted to announce that Su-Mita Hill will be joining the Foundation as Chief Executive Officer in January 2026.
Su-Mita brings strong experience in community outreach and partnership development in purpose-driven organisations, supported by a background in law and climate science. Her leadership is grounded in collaboration, care for community and a deep appreciation for Western Australia’s natural environments. These values align closely with the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to support walkers, volunteers and supporters, while caring for the Bibbulmun Track now and into the future.
A long connection with the Track
Su-Mita has a longstanding personal connection with the Bibbulmun Track and WA’s wild places. She is a passionate and experienced hiker and camper who believes time in nature plays an important role in wellbeing, personal growth and belonging, while highlighting the responsibility we all share to care for the environments that make these experiences possible.
Her relationship with the Track began early, spending her first overnight experience at Ball Creek campsite with her father at the age of five. In 2019 she completed an end-to-end journey from Kalamunda to Albany. These experiences, along with other hikes across WA and overseas, have shaped her belief in the power of the Bibbulmun Track to inspire connection, stewardship and lifelong appreciation for nature.
Looking to the future
Su-Mita is passionate about education and community engagement, and hopes to use her experience in STEM education and outreach to help create opportunities for citizen science and deeper learning across the Bibbulmun Track community.
Bibbulmun Track Foundation Chair, Dr Kathleen Broderick, said the Board is looking forward to working with Su-Mita as she steps into the role.
“Su-Mita brings both strong strategic capability and a deep personal understanding of what the Track means to people. Her passion for community, connection and care aligns closely with the values of the Foundation. We are very much looking forward to working with her to ensure the Bibbulmun Track continues to be protected, celebrated and supported for generations to come.”
Su-Mita said she is honoured to be joining the Foundation and excited to connect with the community that supports the Track.
“The Bibbulmun Track holds a special place in the hearts of so many people. I feel incredibly privileged to join the Foundation and look forward to listening, learning and contributing to the work already being done to care for the Track and the community that surrounds it.”
We look forward to welcoming Su-Mita into the role in January and working alongside her to help ensure the Bibbulmun Track continues to inspire, challenge and bring people together for many years to come.
