South Coast Volunteers Hard at Work

Wes’ army of south coast volunteers recently rolled up their sleeves near Nullaki Campsite, working north of Gilge Road to give the Track a good tidy-up ahead of the section’s new caretakers.

Volunteers spent time clearing, mowing and pruning the Track for all our enjoyment

The crew — Joel from the Parks and Wildlife Service (PAWS), along with Charlie, Lauchlan, Nick, Ellen, Maree and Rob — spent the day mowing, pruning, and clearing overgrown sections of Track to ensure it’s in great condition for the next group of volunteers.

Their efforts mean the incoming volunteer maintenance team can ease into their new responsibilities with a clear and accessible trail. From trimming back encroaching vegetation to removing fallen branches and tidying campsites, the group’s work helps keep this coastal stretch of the Bibbulmun Track safe and enjoyable for walkers.

Keeping the Track in Top Shape

Maintenance days like this are part of the Bibbulmun Track Foundation’s extensive Volunteer Maintenance Program, which sees more than 360 volunteers caring for over 1,000km of trail from Kalamunda to Albany.

Volunteers are the lifeblood of the Foundation — they help ensure the Track remains safe, sustainable, and welcoming for the thousands of walkers who enjoy it each year. Many take on their own section of Track to maintain, while others assist with events, office support, or special projects.

A big thank you to Wes, Joel, Charlie, Lauchlan, Nick, Ellen, Maree, and Rob for their efforts — and to all our incredible volunteers across the state who make the Bibbulmun Track what it is today.
