General Comments

What a trail! The trees, the birds, and the flowers, whoa, the flowers!! I can’t believe how varied and beautiful the entire way was.

Food/Supplies Comments

Lots of prepackaged store bought foods. A special thanks to Deb and Instant Stuffing for adding a lot of substance to pretty weak meals. The only food I’d say I miss now that I’m home is the vast quantities of gummies and chocolate I could eat while not putting on any weight.

Favourite Section

I think scenery wise my favourite section was Donnelly River Village to Pemberton. Those huge trees were incredible. The Pingerup Plains also sticks out because of how big of an adventure those few days were. Deep waters to wade through, and Bella almost got eaten up by a surprise bog!

Highlights

Warming up by the fire, the amazing people we met, and secret nuddie swims to clean off in every body of water we found!

Personal Reactions

I do like walking.

Wildlife

A few roo’s and an emu too. Don’t forget the two possums dancing on the picnic table and all those black cockies!

Your Best Equipment

About 13 days into the trip I bought a silk liner for my bag and boy, oh, boy did that help me tons!

Your Worst Equipment

Well, the 2.5 kg leaky tent I carried the whole way wasn’t my favourite, but it did keep the bugs off us while we slept cozily in the huts.

Advice for Others

Everyone does long distance (and normal distance) hikes differently and to their own pace. No need to judge or feel differently about the way you’re doing it. This goes out to the cold soaking, walk it in 15 dayers or the “my bag weighs 70 kgs and I’m taking 900 days to walk it”. You do you, just make sure it’s your way.
