General Comments

Some say it’s about the journey not the destination. They are spot in. Hiking 1,005 km’s of Nyoongar Country wilderness through which the Bibbulmun Track meanders, is an experience that just kept on giving. Every step, every minute of every day, whether it be the oceans, majestic forests, flowers, wildlife, people or simply just the time to oneself reflecting, the Bibbulmun Track and land upon which it lays, just keeps on giving and giving. As such, I would like to acknowledge the traditional owners and custodians of the land upon which the Bibbulmun meanders, the people of Nyoongar Country, Western Australia. I pay my respect to the local elders and leaders both past, present and future. Thank you.

I also thank the Bibbulmun Track foundation and the many volunteers. Great job guys. Love your work.

Food/Supplies Comments

Dehydrated / High Protein content food / snacks. Salt tablets & hydralyte powder for water.

Five food drops by wife at usual places.

Favourite Section

Peaceful Bay thru to Walpole. Has it all.

Highlights

The people. Met some absolutely wonderful people both on and off the track. Brilliant.

Personal Reactions

I was blessed with incredible behind the scene support from a girl I adored from when I was 16. Without my wife Andrea, none of this would have possible really.

Plus the support and motivational messages from so many people willing me on. Thank you.

Wildlife

So many…snakes, wild boar, emu, kangaroo, mozzies / march flies!!, etc.

Your Best Equipment

Sea to Summit Comfort Plus air mattress & sleeping bag

Your Worst Equipment

None really was all great

Advice for Others

Although I’d never been on the Bib before, I had hiked. So plan it well. Then be flexible along the way to change the plan. Things happen, weather, water inlets, fitness etc. For me my plan was 49 days and I did in 42 plus 2 rest days in Northcliffe. In the end I was so track fit (mentally & physically) the northern section / double hutting became easy as.
