General Comments
Very impressed with the work the foundation and its volunteers and members do, to maintain the track.
Food/Supplies Comments
Started with too much initially as many will do, until you strike the right balance between the required and the superfluous. Where necessary I sought advice.
Favourite Section
Easy! The South Coast by a fair margin, with Walpole to Denmark being my favourite leg. The combination of tingle forest and rugged oceanic coastline is irresistible.
Highlights
1 See above
2 Meeting some really interesting people.
3 Having dinner with Tim & his BTF maintenance team @Donnelly River
4 Resting up in the various track towns
5 Double- hutting from Mt Chance through to Long Point and living to tell the tale despite encountering more mud, sand and snakes than many would wish to see.
Personal Reactions
A great sense of personal achievement.
Wildlife
The usual I guess: kangaroos, wallabies, emus, goannas, monitor lizards, snakes and birds, birds, birds.
Your Best Equipment
I have a little pouch thingy which hangs off my belt and allows me quick, easy access to my phone/camera and BTF guide book. I also have to pay the necessary respect to my boots which did another 1000km of carrying me across some extremely rugged terrain .
Your Worst Equipment
LOL! Where do I start? No, I don’t think I had any really bad stuff. But I did send my tent home as I felt early on, the huts would suffice my needs.
Advice for Others
If you feel the itch, then give it a good scratch by getting out there. PS Under no circumstances believe the BTF or any of your experienced track friends when they tell you with a suppressed giggle to not worry about bringing toilet paper because the dunnies are always well stocked.
