General Comments

What an Opportunity and what an experience!
Thanks to the Bibbulmun Foundation, the DBCA officers and volunteers who care for the track for us to enjoy and the many “Track Angels” who make the experience possible and more seamless and enjoyable!

Food/Supplies Comments

Very commercial but I will learn to dehydrate my own food next time. Maybe more frequent food drops to reduce weight of pack. Also may spend some extra money on light weight supplies now that I have seen what gear/gadgets other walkers were using!

Favourite Section

Perth Hills were a wonder as they were new to me, the Karri Forrest was amazing and the plains were dramatic but the South Coast was wild and spectacular (but harder).

Highlights

The people I met on the way and had the privilege to share the experience with especially around the fire. The Sunsets and Sunrises over the different horizons.

Personal Reactions

Being one with nature…...what a wondaful creation we are fortunate to enjoy! Lost track of time and things that I needed to do (our busy lives) and just enjoyed each day at a time!

Wildlife

The transition of the different trees, from the Trees to Plains to Coast brought many changes in flowers especially the rich variety of orchids. I loved waking up to the bird choruses and going to sleep with the frogs (noises that is). Saw many kangaroos, wallaby’s, emus and other birds, frogs, snakes and a couple of whales even! Unfortunately saw quite a few wild pigs and rabbits and maybe too many mosquitos, flies and march flies to wish to remember!

Your Best Equipment

Double insulated mug!

Your Worst Equipment

Heavy tent!

Advice for Others

Have some discussion with other walkers and do a few short one or two night walks to get to know your equipment and what else you may need or don’t need. Do not only rely on the commercial outlets for tips! Maybe do a Bibbulmun hosted intro walk. Lots of information available from other walkers who have done the track. Take time to research food options and do your own dehydration it is all part of the experience and journey!
