General Comments

I walked a ‘flip flip’ end to end. I started in Denmark and walked south to the southern terminus in Albany. I then got the TransWA bus back to Denmark and walked north to Kalamunda. The trip took me 54 days, finishing in Kalamunda the day before my 37th birthday.

Food/Supplies Comments

I started planning the walk only 2 weeks before I left, so I didn’t have time to dehydrate my own food. For dinners I ate a mixture of ready made dehydrated meals and meals put together myself from supermarket and dried ingredients. For lunches I usually ate wraps with tuna, cheese or hummus, and for breakfast porridge or cereal. I had lots of trail mix, muesli bars, dried fruit, chocolate and lollies for snacks. I ate really well along the track and looked forward to every meal!
I drove to each town and dropped off a resupply box before I left. I supplemented these with extra items purchased in town.

Favourite Section

Pemberton to Donnelly River Village. For the peacefulness of the forest, the challenging terrain and the beautiful setting of every campsite in the section.

Highlights

Whale watching along the coast.
The Karri forests.
The giant tingle trees.
The amazing views and wild weather of the south coast.
The canoe crossing followed by Peaceful Bay fish and chips!

Your Best Equipment

I loved my tent and slept in it every night on the track. It was super cosy and my home away from home on the trail. It stood up to some pretty intense weather on the coastal sections. Big Agnes Copper Spur UL2 mtnglo.
