General Comments

Thoroughly enjoyable. A very relaxing and peaceful way to spend 55 days. Much much better and more enjoyable than I was expecting.

Food/Supplies Comments

Resupplied in towns. Ample choice. My only pre-walk check was to phone each town to ensure that my fuel of choice (gas canister) was available.

Favourite Section

Somewhere between Kalamunda and Albany. All sections had really nice walking parts and camps. All sections also had parts where one had to “pay one’s dues” that were not so memorable (e.g. a long road walk).

Highlights

The beginning of each day where, after a nights rest I always started off with a spring in my step. The end of the day when I reached camp, unpacked, had a wash and settled down with a cup of Earl Grey.      All sections had different highlights which are not really comparable. I think maybe the “peace” of the walk was a highlight. One could really live in the moment.

Personal Reactions

I enjoyed it much more than I was expecting. the “flatness” of the Track was never an issue.

Wildlife

Kangaroos, emus, birds, cockatoos.

Your Best Equipment

Can’t say. With the exception of the first aid/emergency gear, I used just about everything I carried every day. Notwithstanding that, my lightweight tent was a saviour to get away from snorers & the occasional large group.

Your Worst Equipment

I don’t have any. It has been ditched years ago.

Advice for Others

Train. Everything else can be solved on the walk (e.g. shoes, pack, food, cold, heat). Even blisters will heal with good management. However, without training, one risks a repetitive strain injury (RSI) which will mean the end of one’s walk.
