General Comments

I loved being on my own, setting my own pace & being responsible for myself. However knowing that my husband Fred was following me in our caravan and on his Ipad via my SpotGen3 was reassuring. There has not been a day since my 1st E2E in 2010 that I have not dreamed of returning. Perhaps there is another on the horizon!

Food/Supplies Comments

I dehydraged all my food prior to departure & enjoyed a fresh top up when in town. I ate lots but still managed to lose weight.

Favourite Section

Once again I just loved the Mt Chance to Woolbales section with the fabulous Pingerup Plains. This time was enhanced but the lack of ankle deep water.

Highlights

Walking into towns, meeting Fred with his encouragement & a warm bed. Whilst I loved the solitude I met some awesome people who shared their stories and at times yummy food. Seeing Fred’s & my Dunny Door at Schafer was especially pleasing & walking on those beaches after the rain the sand was firmer.

Personal Reactions

I just wish to thank all those involved both in the creation & maintenance of the Track, including the Foundation, DPaW & the volunteers. The reconstruction of the fire damaged shelters & Track itself is a credit to all those involved. I wish I lived in WA so that I could be on the Track more. I have definitely developed a love relationship here.

Wildlife

I only saw tiger snakes, probably due to the cold weather & rain but I was able to share some special time with a quenda at Torbay. He/she was foraging in the woodchip for about half and hour. Sharing shelters with mice in the northern section was less enjoyable. Turning on my Luci lamp seemed to fix that.

Your Best Equipment

My Spot Gen3, giving my security. I also carried my own PLB as it is Australian based.

Your Worst Equipment

My expensive boots, which were supposed to be waterproof, filled with water every time it rained meant walking with wet socks. for days.

Advice for Others

Listen to your body. I had 3 attempts to complete this E2E. On my first Fred was airlifted from Canning. On my 2nd I developed a groin injury. Whilst deeply disappointed I recognised that continuing with problems can impact heavily on others. Finally enjoy every minute.
