General Comments
This adventure sat on my bucket list for a number of years, so I’m grateful that the stars aligned. It was a unique and incredible journey and is far less intimidating than I first thought. The facilities and support along the way make it comfortable, even if you have little experience.
Food/Supplies Comments
I was lucky enough to have my dad plan our food drops. We carried 1 kg per person per day (3000 cal). Included fats for sustained energy.
Favourite Section
Woolbales to Long Point and steep climbs.
Highlights
I loved sharing this journey with my family. While Dad was with me every step of the way, Track towns also provided convenient locations to spend time with mum and my sister. We were absolutely spoilt, enjoined sharing stories and had a time appreciation of life’s simple pleasures.
Personal Reactions
Doing an end to end helped me to reflect and to understand and reinforce my values. After we finished I found myself expressing more gratitude and becoming less stressed and was beaming with inspiration and passion for what lay ahead.
Wildlife
Even though I have spent most of my life in Australia, I still experienced many ‘firsts’! Two young curious emus, a mainland quokka and a sleepy echidna were highlights.
Your Best Equipment
Carrying a LifeStraw drink bottle.
Advice for Others
Your pack should be no more than 20% of your bodyweight. Food is heavy (our longest leg was 8 days) so investing in lighter equipment is worth it.
