General Comments

Overall it was an amazing experience that we thoroughly enjoyed. The condition of the Track and huts was excellent which is a credit to all the volunteers, DPaW staff and BTF staff. The finish at the Northern Terminus was a bit anticlimactic - need to be directed to the Visitors Centre.

Food/Supplies Comments

We did food drops before the walk which worked well. We even packed too many muesli bars and dry biscuits which we left behind for others. Will dehydrate more of our own meals next time.

Favourite Section

The hills between Dwellingup and Kalamunda as well as the tingle forest near Walpole.

Highlights

Campsites at Frankland, Lake Maringup and Monadnocks were standouts.
Sitting by a campfire under the stars was bliss.

Personal Reactions

The simplicity of Track Life is so appealing. It is physically demanding but relaxing at the same time.
Enjoyed the peace of having a shelters to ourselves but also shared shelters with some fascinating people who were a great source of information and very friendly.

Wildlife

Saw plenty of roos and a few emus.
Red tailed black cockatoos accompanied us for much of the walk.

Your Best Equipment

Trekking poles. Jetboil stove. Inner socks came to the rescue after early blisters.

Your Worst Equipment

A waterproof jacket that turned out to be NOT waterproof.
A sleeping bag that the zip broke on.

Advice for Others

Talk to people who have completed the Track for their advice. If you don’t think you can walk the whole way (or don’t have the time) just walk a short section to experience what it is like. You will come back for more.
