General Comments

I first heard about the Bibbulmun Track while visiting WA about 15 years ago and it has sat high on my bucket list ever since.  After planning to do it with others several times and it falling through I decided to ‘go it alone’ and am so glad that this is the way I ended up doing it.

Food/Supplies Comments

No dehydrator- store bought packet food and lucky to have my husband as support driver who I met up with quite regularly and enjoyed fresh food (and a comfy bed).

Favourite Section

Hard to say, while I was doing a section I thought it was my favourite until I got to the next section and it became my favourite.

Highlights

Those Karri and Tingle trees! I always thought I was a coastal person, but i think the Karri and Tingle forests have converted me!

Personal Reactions

I enjoyed the solitary walking and solo nights and had plenty of time for reflection, but equally enjoyed the nights I shared shelters with other walkers and shared the experience. I met and made friends with so many inspirational people, some were so generous with their advice (and food and gear) other were just great company.

Wildlife

Lots of birds, emus, wallabies and kangaroos….and of course those snakes!

Your Best Equipment

Walking poles - I’m so glad it was recommended by several people before leaving to take them, as I wasn’t going to.
Also my new Keens boots I had to buy when reaching Balingup (mercy dash down to Bunbury) as my others ones fell apart. These boots were so comfortable from day one and I never got a blister from them!

Your Worst Equipment

My sleeping bag - it was so huge and bulky it took up half my pack! It was very warm though.

Advice for Others

Don’t wait for others to be ready to go with you - just do it. A solitary end to end is an amazing experience.
