Rob Kilpin (Trail & Error)

Completed: 13 July 2011

  • Start date: 13 May 2011
  • Age When Completed: 63
  • Direction Walked: South to North

General Comments

Since I last walked down south - September 2010 - the Waugals breeding season seems to have occurred. Paradoxically markers in the northern section are often poor or even non existent.
(over Boonerring).

Food/Supplies Comments

OK to buy locally where possible except for Dwellingup where prices are akin to the Gibb River Road.

Favourite Section

South of Walpole.

Highlights

I just like doing it but it gave me personal satisfaction to leave Helena at 7 am and still got to Kalamunda in time to ring the bell. (Nothing to do with the trail but to me a bit of a challenge).

Personal Reactions

Again quiet satisfaction on completion but wishing more people would do the Track in winter. Its great for actual walking.

Wildlife

Scarce. Few whales in the distance at Peaceful Bay. The occasional Bib Track walker.

Your Best Equipment

Poles - I am a prophetizing exponent NO geriatric should be without them.

Your Worst Equipment

Event fabric rain jacket. Useless.

Advice for Others

Equipment - talk to walkers not salespeople.
