General Comments

A fantastic asset to WA, kudos to all involved in building and maintaining the trail

Food/Supplies Comments

Apart from a food drop at Brookton Hway, we provisioned along the track without a problem. Selection was sometimes sparce and we called ahead to check on availability in a couple of places. We found it fun to improvise and felt better supporting the communities on route.

Favourite Section

So hard to say, the karris trees and reaching the coast?

Highlights

The change in vegetation and wildflowers in particular was just stunning.

Personal Reactions

Just loved the change in colour, shape, size and texture of wildflowers, Also better facilities than expected.

Wildlife

We love the birds and clocked 114 species on the way!, Snakes appeared a lot more in the latter sections while roos where present throughout. Just dipped on the echidna, but they are about

Your Best Equipment

We both had a One Planet 55L “Extrovert” pack that was comfortable, perfect size, durable and reasonably lightweight - and Aussie made.

Your Worst Equipment

We ended up sending our rain pants home as the weather warmed and I reckon a poncho may be better than a raincoat

Advice for Others

Most people we spoke to who were double hurting had to stop, skip a section or were in pain due to physical injury. So unless you really know your fitness and preparedness, don’t plan to double hut. Allow a warm up and see how you go.
