General Comments
Far more challenging than I thought it would be but all the more satisfying because of that - I learnt so much from all the wonderful people I met along the way and have so many fabulous memories, good, bad, awesome, terrible. Altogether, it made me a better person
Food/Supplies Comments
I realised I knew nothing about hiking and carrying/preparing food on the trail - luckily I’m a fast learner
Favourite Section
Around Walpole and the Tingle Trees though I have a favourite hut in every section
Highlights
The fact that I managed to complete each section
Personal Reactions
As a solo hiker it was sad not having anyone to with whom to share the highs and lows and the vast majority of the time I was alone in the but each night. Sometimes this was great as I could spread myself around and not be tidy but sometimes I longed for a bit of company and some conversation. Overall I loved being out in the bush. My signature move was to take regular breaks, reading a book and drinking some tea at the side of the track. Often there was a great reluctance to get moving again because my rest spot was just so beautiful
Wildlife
Lots - kangaroos, emus (of they run towards you then you know you’re close to Donnelly River Village), lizards, snakes, insects, birds, birds birds
Your Best Equipment
My pillow - homemade -bul ky but lightweight and oh so comfy
Your Worst Equipment
My shoes - all of them
Advice for Others
Visit the Foundation offices and talk to the people there - they are so helpful and have so much knowledge about the track, plus they are great to talk to - use the paper maps and booklets, not just apps
