General Comments

A trail that this State can be especially proud of - it is in tip top condition, well signposted, especially in relation to the Cape to Cape, and well maintained by the many volunteers whom I often observed during my walk.

Food/Supplies Comments

Not an issue when walking sections.  It is one of the reasons I undertook to walk sections.

Favourite Section

Walpole to Denmark - the transition from karri forest to coastal landscapes.

Highlights

Meeting a mix of like minded people and sharing common interests especially overnight at various campsites.

Personal Reactions

I loved the peace and quiet and enjoyed the times when my mind was cleared of all of my worries, concerns and negative thoughts.

Wildlife

Not as much as I would have liked! I am sure the Carnaby Black cockatoos were following me as there was no shortage of them along the track. in the northern section of the walk far too many diggings from wild pigs in the water catchment areas especially east of Mundaring. Also no shortage of Tiger snakes on the southern coastal section especially along the narrow shoulder width tracks in late Winter and Spring.

Your Best Equipment

Extremely light equipment such as my backpack, tent, and sleeping bag.

Your Worst Equipment

My shoes were a big disappointment especially toward the end of my walk. They were my fourth pair of a particular brand that I have been wearing for the past 10 years. Something has changed with this shoe, and other than my body getting older, it is time for me to now try the new European lightweight brands that unfortunately cost an arm and a leg to procure in this country.

Advice for Others

Stick to your pace and don’t be rushed by others. Try not to be too judgemental of others. All of us have a story to tell so take the time to ask and to listen to what others have to say.
