General Comments

We had so much readily available information at our disposal. It really made planning our walk so much easier. We were very grateful to the BTF team.

Food/Supplies Comments

above and beyond to facilitate our change of plans and deliver our supplies to Mount Cook. As an added bonus we were gifted avocado, fresh coffee, cakes and dried persimmon (a first taste for us and absolutely delicious). Almost everything else was available in track towns.

Favourite Section

Long Point to Mt Clare. It was incredibly exciting to see a garden in the dunes.

Highlights

Being able to complete the walk after fracturing my wrist before walking into Balingup was fantastic. Big thanks to my husband (Sherpa Shane) for tying up my laces for 600 km’s, not to mention setting up camp every afternoon and packing up of a morning. We did it!

Personal Reactions

To be honest, I was bit ambivalent about hut dwelling for two months. As it turns out missing my privacy wasn’t an issue as there were so many interesting and like minded people to chat with who had so much information and knowledge to share that it compensated for loss of quiet time.

Wildlife

Our up close and quite surprising encounters with snakes was bit rattling. No harm done though.

Your Best Equipment

Physiocrem saved the day for me. I used it daily on my ankles and knees. There wasn’t much left at the end of the walk due to other people using it.

Your Worst Equipment

Without a doubt my Nemo sleeping mat. We were able to buy a Sea to Summit air mattress online which we then picked up in Dwellingup.

Advice for Others

Take it slowly, look after your body and stretch every afternoon and then stretch again.
