General Comments

This is an incredibly well set up trail and my thanks to the BTF and all the amazing volunteers for all the work it takes to create and maintain such a high standard track.

Food/Supplies Comments

It seemed to be an ever changing thing adapting to what my body needed as the walk progressed. That hiker hunger thing people talk about is real. Don’t skimp on food. It will just tire you out and you won’t enjoy yourself.

Favourite Section

Any that included the ocean. Or Tingle trees. I loved the Tingles.

Highlights

Orchids, Tingles, Blue wrens and throwing myself into the ocean.

Personal Reactions

This was my longest hike and I didn’t anticipate the depth of feeling I would encounter when I finally emerged onto the coast after so many weeks in the forest. I cried.

Wildlife

Didn’t spot any whales but there were plenty of birds, snakes, lizards, emus, kangaroos, wallabies, one echidna and the resident quenda at Torbay Campsite.

Your Best Equipment

My coffee grinder. Ah, the aroma of fresh coffee…

Your Worst Equipment

A noisy sleeping mat. My thanks to Paddy Pallin in Perth for express shipping a quieter one so I could stop driving my hiking partner mad.

Advice for Others

It’s definitely worth doing. Be flexible, adaptable and open to whatever comes and you’ll love it.
