General Comments

Such a great experience to be able to explore this part of Western Australia on foot. The trail was well maintained with great camp shelters and an awesome hiking community throughout. A massive thank you to the track foundation, volunteers and everyone I was lucky enough to meet. Feeling very grateful!

Food/Supplies Comments

Posted food parcels to track towns to collect along the way. Topped up on fresh fruit and foods in each town.

Highly recommend stopping for a burger at peaceful bay!

Favourite Section

Walpole to Denmark for its mix of beach and forest walking with beautiful coastal views.

Highlights

Walking with emu chicks on trail to Tom Road camp.

Reaching the ocean and having beautiful open coastal sunrises/sunsets again.

Making friends with and learning from hikers from many different countries and experience levels.

Personal Reactions

I had no idea it rained this much in WA! (At least a rain shower on 15 of my 35 days with temps getting down as low as 1 degree overnight). Beautiful to see such a green area of the state after driving down across the NT.

Wildlife

Saw kangaroos, wallabies, emus, echidnas, skinks, legless lizards, cockatoos, quenda, feral pigs, mice, spiders and snakes but my favourite were the beautiful shingleback lizards.

Your Best Equipment

Hiked in my trusty Steel Blue work boots, kept my feet dry through the rain and got me through some big days without worrying about blisters, sand or rolling an ankle… maybe by the time I wear these out I’ll get around to buying a pair of real hiking shoes

Your Worst Equipment

Ripped my rain pants in the first week… it rained lots.

Advice for Others

Hike your own hike, take as little or much time as feels right for you, smile through whatever the weather throws at you and enjoy your time out there while you have it (:
