General Comments
An interesting decision to walk in July. I don’t regret it. Lots of rain, but so so quiet.
Food/Supplies Comments
Dropped food parcels with dinners in visitor centres, no problems. Bought everything else in track town.
Favourite Section
Northcliffe to Walpole. I was dreading wading across the Pingerup Plans but easily my favourite section - isolated and very beautiful (and most flat).
Highlights
One comes to mind - trudging up a hill on the coast with my head down because of the hail. At the top of the hill the gale forces my head up, just in time to see a whale in mid breach right in front of me.
Personal Reactions
Missing it already.
Wildlife
No ticks and only one live snake (a python). Got charged by an emu and the pigs I surprised ran one way, and I ran the other. Saw emus, pigs, wallabies, roos, whales, seals, lots of birds.
Your Best Equipment
Walking poles. I am now having trouble walking without them.
Your Worst Equipment
Mosquito repellent as I never used it. Rain jacket failed and multiple sleeping mat fails.
Advice for Others
I took it day by day. Others enjoyed every day, I had challenging days but there was always tomorrow!
