General Comments

A wonderful adventure in a region of Australia I hadn’t visited before. So great to explore a small part of WA in such a special way.

Food/Supplies Comments

To start off with, I brought some favourite commercially prepared dehydrated meals over from NZ.  When thet ran out I re-supplied from Track towns, usually a mix of Australian made dehy meals and grocery store food.  This mostly worked well, except by half way it was a challenge to meet both calorie and nutrition needs.  I also missed fresh fruit and veggies.  Town stops were spent eating a lot.

Favourite Section

Haven’t decided yet, although currently the first long section stands out.  It was very scenic, weather was pleasantly warm, shorter distances - a great start to my E2E.

Highlights

The variety of scenery and conditions on the Track, little chance for boredom!  The lovely people I met along the Track and the whole community supporting Track walkers.

Wildlife

I enjoyed the birdlife - cockatoos, wrens, fantails.  Encountered no snakes and very few spiders.

Your Best Equipment

I was pleased that my gear mostly met the demands of the Track well. Favourites include my HeliumNZ ultralight pack.  It comfortably carried everything I needed, including tent and food.  ULA rainshirt was perfect for the conditions.  Leki poles were essential.

Your Worst Equipment

Mayfly UL hut sandals were not robust enough around campsite.  Used thongs instead.

Advice for Others

Take time to do it comfortably, not rushed.  There is just so much to see and experience.  Take rest days, the towns are great and worth exploring.  Keep you pack light and take only what you need.
