Food/Supplies Comments
We followed the 500 gram/per person/per day formula and it worked well for us. We posted parcels to 4 track towns, but wish we had done even more to help lighten the load.
Favourite Section
The Pingerup Plains and walking among the giant trees
Highlights
Reaching the Southern Ocean
Personal Reactions
The 1000 km walk (which often felt like a regular job) left us with countless memories and stories, but it was the comradery of the 47 other walkers we met that turned the Bibbulmun into an incredible journey.
Wildlife
Millions of flies made sure we practiced the Australian salute on a daily basis, thousands of mozzies buzzed us each night, hundreds of ticks tried to feed on us, we slept with a handful of rats and saw a dozen snakes (one ready to strike).
Your Best Equipment
Mrs M loved that her rain skirt kept her dry and her down camp boots kept her feet warm. We both loved Leukotape to keep our feet healthy and mend equipment. It stayed in place for days on end and it didn’t even come of the hole in the shorts when put through the laundry.
Your Worst Equipment
Our Thermarest ProLite mattresses didn’t provide enough padding.
Advice for Others
Healthy feet make for happy hikers.
