General Comments

Very long walk, sore feet, inflamed tendons, uncomfortable, dirty, hungry, backache, flies, snakes but had a great time! Had some great experiences and saw some wonderful sights! And lost weight, lowered cholesterol and got fighting fit!

Food/Supplies Comments

Food was a bit hit and miss but generally was adequate, as was resupplying in track towns.

Favourite Section

South coastal and beach walks.

Highlights

Staying in Murray hut and following the rivers and first glimpse of southern ocean are the highlights.

Personal Reactions

We coped quite well considering our lack of training and preparation.

Wildlife

Usual snake sightings. Terrific birdlife in the mornings at most of the campsites. Giant’s was the exception, very quiet.

Your Best Equipment

4 tie point mosquito net was a must. German military poncho that had multi use, rain coat, ground sheet and bivouac shelter at Wrights camp.

Your Worst Equipment

Jet boil stove and her boots.

Advice for Others

Don’t experiment with food and gear on the track, get it right at home. Use good quality walking poles, they are a must!
