General Comments

Incredible track. Incredible people.

Food/Supplies Comments

We dehydrated most of our own meals and would highly recommend doing this. I’m vegan and had no issues staying well fed on the track and in the track towns!

Pro tip: tofu does not rehydrate very well!

Favourite Section

I loved the section from Pemberton to Walpole, you get to walk through all different biomes! We started off in the Karri forest went through the Pingerup Plains (while they were dry) and got our first glimpse of the Southern Ocean and beach walking!

Highlights

- Swimming in the glorious blue water at Boat Harbour after a long day in the dunes from Peaceful Bay.
- Coming over the dunes to Mandalay Beach and seeing the Southern Ocean after a month in the forest.
- Getting to meet lots of wonderful people along the way at the huts whom you share laughs and stories with before parting again the next day.
- Getting to Dwellingup after our first nine days on the track. That’s a shower I will never forget.
- Coming around a dune just south of Peaceful Bay and seeing a giant rainbow over the ocean, pure track magic!

Personal Reactions

Honoured to be an end-to-ender and will forever be telling people about that time I walked 1,000 kilometres!!

Wildlife

I’m going to miss all the birds who became our companions along the way. From the Black Cockatoos in the northern section to the little flighty wrens in the south.

Your Best Equipment

My tent-carrying, spider-catching boyfriend. Couldn’t have done the track without him. Also my Injini toe socks, Merrell boots and EVA Birkenstocks, treat your feet!

Your Worst Equipment

Sunglasses, didn’t use them at all!

Advice for Others

Get out there and give it a go! You’ll probably never feel 100% ready so do the best you can to prepare but make sure you don’t get analysis paralysis. Just take the leap. Start where you are and with what you’ve got. You won’t regret it.
