Waalegh Campsite Gets a Boost from Volunteer Field Day
Sixteen enthusiastic volunteers recently descended on Waalegh Campsite for a well-earned spruce up as part of a community field day. The energy and dedication of the group helped breathe new life into this beloved stop along the Bibbulmun Track.
A major highlight of the day was the installation of a new side wall on the shelter, an addition that has been several years in the making. After multiple requests from walkers and volunteers alike, the enhancement was finally approved and funded by the District.
While not set to become a standard feature across all shelters on the Track, the side wall at Waalegh will serve as a trial to see how such modifications can improve conditions for walkers during the wet and windy winter months.
The field day stands as another great example of the incredible impact our volunteer community has on maintaining and improving the Bibbulmun Track experience for all. A huge thank you to everyone who participated – your hard work and passion are what keep the Track thriving.
