Support Volunteers to collect surplus bridges

SV’s visited Wellington District this week to inspect three 6m kit-bridges, no longer on the current Bibbulmun Track alignment. The plan is for volunteers to dismantle the bridges so they can be reused along the current alignment where old timber bridges are failing.

The removals will occur over two separate campaigns later in the year, with the second campaign comprising the relocation of the bridge at Glen Mervyn Dam to a creek a short distance south of the Dam on the current alignment. The plan for the other two bridges is still being finalised, but they may appear somewhere in Donnelly District where there is a pressing need.
