Log book available in Denmark
For those passing through Denmark, there is now a green walker log book available at Jack F. Ricketts & Co. fishing, camping and gifts store, in the centre of town.
This replaces the book formerly accessible at the recently closed Denmark Visitor Centre.
In the store, walkers should go to the fishing counter and request the book from staff.
We thank store owner, Richard Ricketts, for his support of walkers and the Track in this way.
Jack F. Ricketts & Co. welcomes walkers to browse their broad selection of outdoor recreation gear and supplies as well as homewares, gifts and more.
However, they do not have the capacity to facilitate the storage and collection of resupply boxes.
The store is at 20 South Coast Hwy, Denmark.
Opening hours are:
Mon – Fri 8:30am – 5:30pm
Sat & Sun 8:30am – 12:00pm
The Recreation and Trails walker log books serve several purposes, especially in Track campsites.
They are a source of information on walker numbers and demographic details. It is for this reason that – on the Bibbulmun Track – they are managed by the Foundation, which coordinates the data entry and statistical analysis, all carried out by volunteers. However, the Foundation recognizes that walkers may be under-represented in town log books due to the limitations of location and opening hours.
The log books contain information which may be used to confirm the location of walkers in an emergency situation. In this case, they would be accessed by DBCA and/or emergency services officers.
They also complement the red registers (journals) in providing a sense of fellowship for walkers.
