Curiosity, Community and a Few Croaking Frogs: Quiz Night a Great Success

Held at Mount Hawthorn Lesser Hall thanks to City of Vincent sponsorship, the event welcomed 66 participants spanning a range of ages and backgrounds. It was wonderful to see familiar faces alongside many people attending their first Bibbulmun Track Foundation event, creating a welcoming atmosphere and new connections around the room.

Hosted by our CEO, Su-Mita Hill, the evening was filled with energy, humour and plenty of surprises. Teams put their knowledge to the test across a range of science, nature, general knowledge and Bibbulmun Track-themed questions, while also tackling interactive table challenges throughout the night.

One of the highlights was the playdough challenge, which gave participants a chance to demonstrate their creativity and dexterity between quiz rounds. The much-discussed sound round also proved a memorable test, with teams challenged to identify a series of frog calls that had even the most confident nature lovers second-guessing themselves.

While there was certainly some healthy competition, the real winner was the sense of community in the room. The evening perfectly reflected the spirit of National Science Week by bringing people together through curiosity, shared learning and a connection to the natural environment.

Funds raised through the event will help the Bibbulmun Track Foundation continue its work to maintain, protect and promote one of Western Australia’s most cherished long-distance walking tracks.
