Your Story or Advice for Others
General CommentsEnjoy the journey. There is more to the track than getting to the destination as fast as possible. Take the time to see the scenery, listen to the sounds of the bush and check out the tiny flowers along the track.
Your Best Equipment
Large umbrella - well worth the extra weight and hassle. It works better than any other wet weather gear. Strong winds can defeat it though.
Your Worst Equipment
Solar panel. While it did work, it is bulky and only works properly when the sun is shining. A battery bank worked a lot better.
Advice for Others
Take the time to enjoy the scenery. Take the short side trips to lookouts, stop and smell the flowers, watch the birds, chat with other hikers and watch the waves rolling in.

Your Experience
- Availability of information: Great - The website is great. The current series of maps are not quite as good as the older maps. The print quality is lower and there is less detail included such as reference trees and minor forest tracks.
- Amount of Wildlife Encountered: Great - Spotting an echidna and special birds such as blue wrens and golden whistlers. Not to mention the odd kangaroo that rises up right in front of you and scares the daylights out of you!
Northcliffe to Walpole. This section has it all - Jarrah forest, Karri forest, open swampy areas, granite outcrops, coastal scrub and sand dunes - and the best orchids.
Highlight of your trip
Orchids. Hiking in wildflower season is the best. So many orchids and other flowers can be seen along the track.
