Track Towns and Supplies
- How many days did you stay in Track Towns? 19
- Did you have any issues finding food/supplies? Yes
- Most track towns did have a good amount of vegan/vegetarian options for resupply. Was hoping to find more locally grown fresh produce on the trail and in track towns. Eating out in towns, everyone was happy to accommodate if they didn't have an option on the menu.

Your Story or Advice for Others
General CommentsWhat an incredible and inspiring adventure! From the fellow hikers to the stunning flora and fauna, the experience is truly unforgettable. The Bibbulmun Track is the perfect introduction to long-distance thru hikes. Its well-maintained shelters, charming track towns and well signed paths, it's remarkably accessible for the beginner/average hiker with the time to explore. Locals should absolutely consider tackling it section by section-it's an experience not to be missed!
Your Best Equipment
- Nitecore NU25 headlamp: lightweight, huge battery life, removable headband and power indicator. - Big Agnes Rapide SL Insulated Sleeping Pad (Double Wide): must have while hiking with a partner. No more slipping through the gap on two single pads. Little extra weight but the comfit is well worth it. - Black Diamond - Pursuit Trekking Poles: Started without poles and became a pole person on the trail. Can't imagine doing long distance without them again.
Your Worst Equipment
Lightweight hike chairs aren't needed with all the huts on the trail. I ended up shipping mine home and used the inbuilt sit pad on my Gossamer Gear Mariposa. Ultralight sleeping pads. As someone who moves a lot through the night. I struggled to stay on the pad and it was ridiculously loud while moving.
Advice for Others
Take your time and hike at your own pace. Pack an extra day’s worth of food and enjoy a “Double Special” – staying two nights in one spot for a more relaxed experience. Don’t hesitate to chat with fellow hikers, the community is a big part of the journey. Get as fit as you can before starting and thoroughly test, pack and repack your gear to ensure you’re only carrying what’s necessary. Every gram counts! Consider doing a few night hikes on the trail. Some of the most unforgettable moments happen after dark. You'll encounter unique nocturnal wildlife, and the cooler temperatures make night hiking less physically demanding.

Highlight of your trip
It's impossible to pick just one highlight because there were so many! Dog Pool campsite stands out with its stunning rammed-earth shelter and the stream winding around the site. Encountering the prehistoric Red Tingles, hiking through majestic forests and then emerging onto the wild, breathtaking coastline were unforgettable moments. The WOW Wilderness EcoCruise in Walpole was another standout—I'd gladly return to WA just to experience another mind-blowing adventure with Gary! And of course, the people you meet along the trail make it even more special. Some are fleeting encounters, while others become companions for weeks, leaving lasting memories.
