Your Story or Advice for Others
General CommentsThis hike was a Bucket List item that I had always wanted to do. It wasn't until I joined my son for two weeks when he completed the track in 2022 that I realised just how much I would enjoy it.
Your Best Equipment
Nature Hike sleeping mat. Borrowed from my son. Never let me down.....
Your Worst Equipment
Didn't really have any equipment I didn't like. It was mostly borrowed from my son and had well and truly been tested.
Advice for Others
If you're a Perth local and start from Kalamunda family members can drive out and meet you if you realise you have forgotten something. I also took photos of the hut names as I went so when I looked back through the mass of photos I could work out where they had been taken

Your Experience
- Availability of information: Great - Had a little trouble finding information about Inlet crossings but a lot of the time Northbound hikers would write up their experiences in the Red Trail Book at the huts
- Amount of Wildlife Encountered: Good - Sadly I didn't see any echidnas or whales. Many other hikers had seen them. Plenty of snakes between Walpole and Albany
Kalamunda to Dwellingup. Loved the hill climbs and views for miles from the top.
Highlight of your trip
Coming over the sand dunes and seeing Mandalay Beach. The rain had disappeared for the day and the sky was a never-ending blue. The breaking waves were a brilliant white on a beautiful turquoise ocean. It was the first time I had smelt the salt air since starting the journey. I could have stood and watched the waves for hours
