Track Towns and Supplies
- Did you have any issues finding food/supplies? Yes
- I did not do things too differently from what I have done for past multiday hikes but it was good to see what other people do. I was very fortunate to have my wife support me and have hiking food available for the following section when we met up in track towns. We both enjoyed frequenting the the great cafes in the track towns.
Your Story or Advice for Others
General CommentsIt was a fantastic hike and I took away a great appreciation of the landscape I hiked. This was my first time in the South West of WA and the hike taught me a great deal about the geology and the diversity of plants that have adapted to this region. The Bibbulmun Track is a world class hike and many thanks to the Bibbulmun Foundation and its volunteers for making this hike available.
Your Best Equipment
My Wilderness Equipment 3 Season Tent which stayed secure during one very windy night.
Your Worst Equipment
None really, although I could do with a lighter backpack.
Advice for Others
Be well prepared and take it easy for the first few days and you will get stronger as the days progress. Ensure you have tested your equipment and meals on smaller hikes before you take up the challenge.
Trip Details
How you completed the Bibbulmun Track:- All at once
- Who did you complete the Track with? Solo (primarily)
- Was undertaking your hike the PRIMARY/MAIN purpose of your TRAVEL from where you currently live? No
Your Experience
Difficult one to answer as all sections had something special to offer. If I had to choose it would the Northcliffe to Walpole because of the diversity of this section. Lake Meringup surround by beautiful Karri, afternoon dip at Dog Pool, hiking through the wet Pingerup Plains with wildflowers in bloom, beautiful views from Mt Chance, Mt Pingerup and Woolbales, the beautiful banksia on the approach to Mandalay Beach, Tingle forest around Mt Clare and the highly entertaining WOW cruise at Walpole.
Highlight of your trip
Hiking in the Karri, Jarrah, Marri and Tingle forests and the beautiful beaches and coves along the south coast.
