Track Towns and Supplies
- Did you have any issues finding food/supplies? Yes
- I significantly over-prepared and had to send food home. Factor-in the fresh food available at the towns that you pass through. Allow yourself the luxury of a small amount of comfort food at the end of each day.
Your Story or Advice for Others
General CommentsA unique and unforgettable journey with my brother.
Your Best Equipment
Very happy with all my equipment. No failures. Salomon X Radiant mid boots are light and tough, no blisters and after a clean look like new after 1,000 km and handled every type of terrain. Mountain Designs Pioneer 70L backpack is tough and well designed. Mountain Designs Travelite 740 sleeping bag is warm. Thermals and wet weather gear also performed well.
Your Worst Equipment
None, but rarely needed my sunglasses.
Advice for Others
Plan and prepare. Give yourself something to look forward to at the end of each day. Reviewing my photos and chocolate worked for me. Look after your feet. Take the journey one day at a time.

Highlight of your trip
Finding an excellent campsite companion who became a friend and a part of our journey. Thanks for the helping hand on Mt Cook and your great paintings. My 60th birthday and the miracle campfire. The maintenance crew/track angels at Swamp Oak for, amongst other things, the cupcakes. The night skies and lunar eclipse.
