Coal to Karri Easter Expedition-02 Apr 2026

Ready for a True Forest Adventure?
Join Foundation Lead Guide and Bibbulmun Track end-to-ender Steve Sertis for an unforgettable Easter trek through some of the most beautiful forests in the South West. This journey takes you from the open jarrah woodlands near Collie to the towering karri forests around Donnelly River Village, covering a spectacular section spanning maps three and four of the Bibbulmun Track.
We’ll start in Collie and make our way to Donnelly River Village (DRV) via the charming village of Balingup, camping along the Track over 9 days and 140km. Prefer something shorter? Choose one of our two flexible options on either side of Balingup.
Option 1: Collie to DRV – 9 day trip / 7 days walking / 140km
Experience the full transition from magnificent jarrah to majestic karri as you explore the forests in all their glory. Enjoy sweeping hilltop views over Balingup, a visit to the Mumby Pub, or even a refreshing swim in a local dam. Includes food drop and return transport from Perth on the first and last day.
Option 2: Collie to Balingup – 6 day trip / 4 days walking / 85km - Thursday 2nd – Tuesday 7th.
Leaving the historic town of Collie, we’ll head south through virgin jarrah forest, mixed woodland, and farmland, with spectacular views across the Ferguson Valley before arriving in Balingup. Includes transport from Perth to Collie on the first day.
Option 3: Balingup to DRV – 5 day trip / 3 days walking / 56km - Monday 6th – Friday 10th.
Wander through rolling forested hills and along old rail formations, passing a historic stock route camp as we approach DRV. Enjoy breath-taking views above the Blackwood River and the cool shade of the towering karri forest.
No matter which option you choose, this is a wonderful way to spend Easter — or to complete another memorable section of your Bibbulmun Track end-to-end journey.
