This is a unique walk incorporating a section of the Bibbulmun Track and other old forestry tracks near Mt Cooke. It is a 15km circuit walk from the Mt Cooke pine plantation, to the Mt Cooke summit and the Mt Cooke campsite led by Foundation volunteer guides.

Lunch will be had along the Track. The campsite has water and a toilet (byo toilet paper!). Note there are no facilities at the start of the walk.

Mt Cooke has the been the victim of a number of bushfires over the years but the 2003 bushfire had an massive impact. You will see some of that on your walk including the remnants of the old campsites that was lost in the fire.

Hi! I’ve been walking the Track since the late 90’s, and like many, started slowly along the big hill curve of learning. A warning: the Bib is addictive. To me, being in the bush is a form of meditation. The whole Track is my favourite section but I must admit to being very fond of sitting on top of Mount Cooke, watching the eagles circle the skinks, and just soaking it all in. I enjoy sharing my love of the Track with novice walkers so hope to see you out there soon.

Hi there. Chris here. Known as the Galloping Gourmet I love to get out onto the Track and cook up some wicked food on my fuel stove. I am a volunteer guide and also a maintenance volunteer. Come and join us on this walk.
