If you have heard Jim Freeman recite his colloquial and colourful poetry before, you will know that it reflects communal attitudes and traditional Australian culture, whilst giving inspiration and at times making you laugh.

Bush poetry has been instrumental in the emergence and development of the Australian identity.

Join Jim, aka the Mad Axeman, on a 5km return walk for a relaxing afternoon with a glass of wine (byo) and the setting sun in the forest as he recites his own poetry of the Bibbulmun Track and many well known bush favourites.

Book quickly! Limited places.

Check what the event rating means for this walk. BYO supper and beverages.

Once you have booked, watch for the automated email with instructions on how to download the event information, or see our website help page.

Very special setting...walking on a beautiful evening...and listening to someone who has a great passion and enthusiasm for the Bibbulmun track, the bush and the poetry. A very laid back enjoyable evening...thankyou. Bev – event participant

Jim is a fantastic poet and how does he remember so much without reading his poetry from a book. Kris - event participant

A very relaxed evening. Jim has a wonderful timbre in his voice that is smooth and gentle. I love his sense of humour that puts a spark into each piece. The man from snowy river was superb. The setting was calm and peaceful with superb weather. A lovely group of people also all relaxed and friendly. Dawn – event participant.

Hi everyone, I have been a member since 2009 when I completed an end-to-end through June and July. This inspired me to continue walking. Since then I’ve enjoyed many hikes short and long across the world like; NZ’s Great Walks, the Tour de Mont Blanc, and The Haute Route across the Swiss Alps. I look forward to many more. I hope to see you out there. The Bibbulmun Track is unique and I’d love to share my knowledge of it with you.
