An August adventure!

The perfect opportunity to put your compass and map reading skills into practice!

On this fun but more intensive weekend we go through some more theory but this time the practical aspect is out on a Rogaine.

You will learn to navigate longer distances and will also learn to do it at night, finding your way through the bush – there are no trails!

Camp out (vehicle based camping) on both Friday and Saturday night and be prepared to walk around 20km over the entire weekend. Wildflowers will be plentiful on the walk! Best of all we make camp and the base camp. This means you don't have to carry your overnight gear!

You don’t need to Get Lost with Steve (the one-day course) as a prerequisite, but it would be helpful as that course covers much more of the basic theory needed.

Transport

Location is around 5hr drive north-east of Perth (approx 400km away).

There is optional return bus transport which will leave Perth at 11am. If you wish to travel on the bus, please select the Adult plus Bus ticket when making your booking. Places are very limited on the bus.

Participants wishing to self-drive will need to leave Perth no later than noon on Friday to make the site in time to set up camp and be present for the theory briefing at 5.30pm. We highly recommend that you take the bus option.

Includes entry fee to Rogaine and a 2017 membership with the WA Rogaining Association, theory (on Friday evening) and plenty of practical tuition, dinner Saturday night, breakfast and lunch on Sunday. Own navigation compass required. Exact location unknown until the week prior. Bus transport optional extra.

Please note that the above date has changed from the published dates in the hard copy of the Calendar of Events and the Bibbulmun News Magazine. The date on this page is correct.

Hi folks. I have been with the Foundation since 1997, when I first joined as a member and maintenance volunteer. I wanted to get involved in the 'new' Track after getting terribly lost on the 'old' Bibbulmun Track. From there I began leading walks and then came on staff in the office in 1999 as Events Manager and Lead Guide. I love walking and have done a few end-to-ends. I really get a kick out of sharing this passion with everyone. I am still a volunteer and look after Nerang Campsite. Come and join me on this event!
