The lodge is ideally located close to amenities which is great if you are on foot. The supermarket, shops and many local cafes are just a short walk away. Albany itself is a stunning region to explore if you have some time coming off the Track. The surrounding National Parks and stunning coastline are a great place to start and it is the perfect spot for aqua adventures like snorkeling, surfing, diving, fishing and more. However, if you’re ready for some indoor time, then take in some history at the National ANZAC Centre, visit a gallery or dine at one of the many fantastic cafes and restaurants in the area – ask the hostel for their recommendations!

 

 

Albany is a very good spot for whale watching between June and September and you might be lucky enough now to catch the last of the migrating Southern Rights, or even a Blue if you are lucky. The hostel staff will know the best spots to get search for the gentle giants, so ask at reception. Hot tip: bring your binoculars.
