- Start date: 8 May 2021
- Age When Completed: 44
- Direction Walked: South to North
General Comments
The facilities provided (shelters, water tanks, benches, toilets and fire pits), directional markers and support given by the volunteer base are all world class. I can’t say the same about the track. The Bibb has so much promise but failed to deliver. I found it incredibly flat and repetitive with so much walking on fire tracks in amongst the trees with few views to be had and too many natural features skirted around. It’s a great introductory thru hike for aspiring long distances hikers but if you have previously completed a more wild thru-hike else where I wouldn’t bother.
Food/Supplies Comments
Resupplied at all track towns - no resupplies sent ahead. Selections were sufficient to keep me moving.
Favourite Section
Denmark to Pemberton - this has the pick of the bunch in terms or variety or terrain, forest types, nice views and scenery.
Highlights
Noticing the very rapid transition in vegetation and terrain when moving off the coast and on towards Giants with the huge tingle trees.
Personal Reactions
Too flat and repetitive.
Wildlife
Lots of roos in the early morning.
Your Best Equipment
Umbrella for sure when its not windy - not just for the rain but for the sun. And Leki Cork Lite walking poles - being a quadraped is cool.
Advice for Others
Prepare your mental game for the long sections of road/fire track walking, in a green corridor with no views for days.
