General Comments
Enjoyed it all and truly appreciate the efforts put in by those who maintain the track and shelters. Thank you all.
Food/Supplies Comments
Only had one food drop, in the bush half way through the first section. Other than that relied on local providers and have little cause for complaint. Just don’t expect miracles if you choose to do it this way.
Favourite Section
From just before Dwellingup until Northcliffe.
Highlights
The morning chorus in the forests, the evening chorus of frogs which wasn’t really anticipated, the kindness of strangers and the friendliness of locals especially in small town stores, cafes and accommodation.
Personal Reactions
None really. I enjoyed it, walked my own walk.
Wildlife
Plentiful and all enjoyed. Everything from feral pigs to a Wedge Tailed eagle sitting eating a parrot on the track. Several snakes but all moved rapidly away when they became aware other than what I suspect was a Death Adder which required a few gentle touches with a stick before it moved off the track.
Your Best Equipment
My personal porter, named Colin too strangely enough. Every day I chivvied him to put on the back pack, tighten the straps and walk. He did a reasonable job.
Your Worst Equipment
My porter, Colin. Sometimes, especially after a re-stock, he winged like the Pom he is. You just can’t get the staff these days.
Advice for Others
Don’t be out phased by those achieving 40+ Kms/day. They are walking their walk, you walk yours ... look at more than just your feet.
