General Comments
My longest self guided hike so far (longest I had hike before was 100km - MacLehose Trail in Hong Kong). I had hoped to finish in 50 days, so to do it in 44 days with my legs still in good health and my equipment largely intact with barely any mishaps, was better than my expectations.
Food/Supplies Comments
Track towns usually had the supplies I needed, but no always what I wanted, smaller town did not sell my beloved Hob Nobs. I did not bring a stove and ate meals that did not require cooking e.g. Couscous, wraps, bircher muesli
Favourite Section
Denmark to Walpole
Highlights
Sunsets at Mt Chance and Waalegh. Canoe crossing at Wilson Inlet. Mid-section food stops at Peaceful Bay, Mumby Pub, Mundaring Weir Hotel, RAC Karri Valley Resort and Golden Valley Tree Park with autumn leaves.
Personal Reactions
Many nights of solitude on the track. Only real gripe is some of the distances to the toilets was long enough to be a proper side trip!
Wildlife
Some snakes, birds (especially fairy wrens, black cockatoo), kangaroos very often - occasional emu, one echidna! Also fungi (curry puff) and the balga tree too.
Your Best Equipment
My phone. Navigation, journal, camera and entertainment at night (music, audio books and podcasts)
Your Worst Equipment
My Sawyer filter felt unnecessary as water quality of rainwater from the tanks was good.
