Learning to navigate independently. Meeting great people on the track. Getting track-fit.
Personal Reactions
This was a wonderful adventure. The resources provided by the BF and WA are amazing - track, huts, water , toilets and on—going support. Absolutely wonderful. Thank you!
Wildlife
Loved the transition in the vegetation and the Aussie wildlife. Came across roughly a dozen snakes, mostly tigers - no dramas if you give them distance and due respect.
Your Best Equipment
My pack, followed closely by my gas stove and walking poles. Highly recommend fixomull and compeed for damaged toes and blisters - it kept me going.
Your Worst Equipment
Initially had a too heavy sleeping bag, sleeping mat and tent. Made some changes and lost 5 KGS.
Advice for Others
Buy light gear, even if it’s expensive. Listen to experienced walkers. Learn to use a map and compass. Don’t rush - there is a lot of beauty to miss if you are in a hurry. Stay calm when you lose the waugal
