General Comments
Great Track. Great shelters. Great people.
Food/Supplies Comments
Bought food as I went which was easy since the Track went through all the towns. Kalamunda to Dwellingup was a heavy food carry though.
Favourite Section
I loved it all.
Highlights
I’m not an Australian so all the flora and fauna was new to me. And what hospitable people. Go in spring to see all the stunning wildflowers. And those Karri trees…...
Personal Reactions
I thought that I would treat it much as I did with my previous thru-hikes: walk all day and camp where I ended up. However I was seduced by the shelter hut/campground system and used these most of the time.
Wildlife
Not much I didn’t see. Very exciting.
Your Best Equipment
Lightweight gear. Clothes to cope with zero degrees to thirty degrees.
Advice for Others
Go for a day, or for a section, but just go. An end-to-end is such a great adventure. The best experience would be to set aside two months and spend one night in most shelters and two nights in most track towns.
