General Comments

After having done the section from Albany to Pemberton in March 2014 we always wanted to do the whole walk in one go. Most difficult part was to find sufficient time to do it without the need to race down the track. It was a great experience. Surprisingly we enjoyed the first part from Kalamunda to Pemberton most and never got bored to walk in the forest day after day. We decided right from the beginning to take our time to stay overnight in each shelter in order to have enough time to explore the surroundings. In addition we always stayed for one extra day in all of the track towns to see what these places are all about. This was for us the best way to fully appreciate the track and the environment.

Favourite Section

Kalamunda to Pemberton -  Forest part

Highlights

Meeting plenty of interesting local people and listed to their stories, picking the right time for the wildflowers (and no flies for most of the time)

Wildlife

Very little wildlife along the whole track - except for the birds

Your Best Equipment

Our walking boots - most other walkers don’t wear proper boots and are surprised about getting blisters and/or wet feet

Advice for Others

Spend more time - there is no point to set speed records
