General Comments

Thank you to the volunteers and workers who help maintain the track and huts.  I loved walking it and was so grateful that I got to experience Australia through walking.

Favourite Section

I loved all of the sections, but there was something especially amazing about walking along the beach, seeing the bluest water that I’ve ever seen and the constant sound of the waves that made the most southern sections my favourite.

Highlights

Some of my highlights were meeting other solo, women walkers and sharing our experiences, successes and struggles with each other.  It was really encouraging to see them at the hut after a long day and be able to compare how many snakes we saw or commiserate together about our wet boots!

Personal Reactions

This was my first long distance walk and I am really proud of the fact that I was able to finish it, and all the little and big lessons I learned along the way.  I also loved seeing the different towns and learning more about the nature and history of Western Australia.

Wildlife

I started out being scared of snakes, but by the end I had seen so many that I was no longer scared!  That felt like a huge accomplishment.  I also loved seeing the kangaroos hop by!

Advice for Others

You can do it!  You don’t need to be extremely experienced or have the perfect gear to get started. Just make a plan, and keep walking!
