General Comments
I walked from my mum’s place at Middleton Beach, Albany to my sister’s place at Cottesloe via the Bibbulmun Track. Every step of the way was a pleasure. I was completely happy walking by myself but I very much enjoyed the camaraderie of meeting fellow walkers along the way.
Food/Supplies Comments
I found there was no shortage of something to live off in the track towns, I just bought as I went along, improvising if necessary.
Favourite Section
Walking through the Monadnocks, the geology was quite spectacular.
Highlights
The undoubted highlights (and relief) were the occasions when you walked out of the pouring rain into a dry shelter. The anticipation of a big steak, a hot shower and a soft bed in the track towns was pretty good too.
Personal Reactions
I turned 60 halfway along the track so I enjoyed the solitude and beauty for some moments of introspection . I also lost 10kg in weight which was an unexpected bonus.
Wildlife
I watched kangaroos and wallabies (used the Bibb track like a freeway). Surprised to see so many feral pigs.
Your Best Equipment
My Guthook app. was a lifesaver for keeping me on the track, my lithium battery charger and my book “Geology and Land forms” of the southwest.
Your Worst Equipment
none - just travel lighter next trip
Advice for Others
Make sure your socks and boots are well sorted before you set off and do not over pack, take the barest of essentials.
