General Comments
It took me around 8 days to get pack strong and get over my initial blisters. I was grateful to have 5 great hiking mates to share the journey and keep me focused. I enjoyed the variety of different terrains and weather conditions. I will recount stories from my end to end for years to come and will continue to do sections.
Food/Supplies Comments
The allure of homemade dehydrated curried lentils and chick peas soon wares off; I can recommend pancake and custard mixtures to add a special treat to your meal at the end of a big day.
Favourite Section
Dwellingup to Kalamunda held a lot of variety for me - particularly Mt Vincent and Cuthbert. It was raining and wet which added to the experience.
Highlights
Watching the seals frolicking and the inquisitive kangaroos long the south coast.
Personal Reactions
As a 66 year old woman with a full hip replacement I feel privileged to have completed my E2E S-N in 53 days feeling stronger and fitter as I crossed the finish line than when I started.
Wildlife
An eagle circled overhead as we approached Rame Head shelter. It seemed to be checking us out before it headed out over the sea.
Your Best Equipment
My sleeping bag and air bed was my solitude and reward at the end of the day.
Your Worst Equipment
My walking sticks which I came to rely on were a cheap pair that became “shaky”. I’m going to invest in a good pair.
Advice for Others
If you are having dark moments at the beginning with blistered feet, fatigue and doubting yourself; don’t give in; ease up as it gets better and you get fitter.
