General Comments
This is my second official E2E. The first was in 2015.
(I walked a modified, ‘unofficial, unregistered’ one in 2016 too.)
Food/Supplies Comments
I ate more salami, more cheese, more rye bread and more boiled eggs on track this time, compared to my previous Bibbulmun adventures.
I made heaps of my own beef jerky too. Well worth it.
Favourite Section
Giants to Rame Head. The diversity really stood out. Forest to sand dunes. Blooms in mid-April, trackside in the sandy parts.
Allen Road to Brookton Highway is also a favourite.
Highlights
Met a fellow who had suffered a heart attack six years ago, and he was out there doing an E2E. Guts. Older bloke than me.
Walking by head lamp at night, in the sections leading into the track towns.
The well-attended ANZAC Dawn Service in Denmark.
Personal Reactions
Had to get over myself in Collie, as I felt like pulling out. After two days’ rest, however, I snapped out of it. I think reading my copy of each haiku I wrote in the red books helped too - strongly evoked the experience of being on the Track.
Wildlife
Four juvenile snakes, plus two big tiger snake specimens. And a seal colony. Those are the ones that stood out.
Your Best Equipment
My EXPED air mattress.
Your Worst Equipment
All pretty serviceable really.
