General Comments
It took 13 years to complete. Almost all day walks, using local accommodations as a base. Seven of us started in 2002 but towards the end there was just the two of us. All walks taken in the spring, so weather was good, as was the companionship of friends.
Favourite Section
Southern coast, Darling Ranges and Pingerup Plains.
Highlights
1. A magical last day north of Collie walking through the areas that had been burnt out by bush fires 10 months previously and now lush with regrowth and amazing number and variety of wildflowers.
2. Overnighting at Waalegh with brilliant sunset, heavy downpour during the night and in the morning thick mist rising from the valley below. Heaven.
Personal Reactions
Wonderful experience. Would like more Waugals signs. Most challenging section was Boarding House through Beavis to complete to Seven Day road - an exhausting 30 km. But the Karri trees were beautiful.
Wildlife
Lots of wildflowers including orchids not seen before. Birds and other wildlife including many snakes, roos and emus.
Your Best Equipment
Taxi service by Bill, the van man and others.
Your Worst Equipment
My brain and its poor sense of direction.
Advice for Others
Walk a day or two and you will be hooked.
